For Individuals (Candidates): How to Share Your Verified Check Result

Once you have received your official criminal history check result as a Verifiable Credential, you retain full control over sharing it. This new secure process puts you in charge, no third-party portals or manual emailing of sensitive documents.

Here’s the simple step-by-step process:

  1. Access Your Credential – Log into your account and open your issued Verifiable Credential (with explicit “Issued By” details and the approved credential name, as shown in the guide).
  2. Initiate Sharing – Select the sharing option. You control the process by entering:
    • The specific email of the recipient (e.g., employer)
    • The recipient’s name
    • A customised message (optional, for context or instructions)
  3. Consent & Authorisation – The system records your explicit consent. The recipient receives a secure email clearly showing that you (the individual) are authorising the share.
  4. Secure Delivery to Recipient
    • The link is valid for only 30 days and can be opened a maximum of 3 times (enhanced security).
    • The recipient must enter the exact email address you specified to access it (double verification).
    • They see a custom message from you.
    • They can download the official source file (check results report).
    • They can verify the accredited body that issued the check.

For Employers / Recipients

If you have requested a criminal history check from a candidate, please contact the candidate directly to request they share their Verifiable Credential with you.

  • The candidate fully controls the sharing process, you cannot access it without their action.
  • Once shared, you will receive a secure, time-limited email with clear instructions.
  • You will need to enter the exact email address the candidate specified to open the link.
  • You can download the official report and see the issuing accredited body for verification.
